1-14-09

I have been reading a book about a woman whose sister died. I think this was the inspiration for the dream I had last night.

My brother died and I had to go take care of his things. It was a large room with an upper level and there were posters on the wall. I wanted some specific ones to keep but someone had already taken them. Heather and Kerwin were there and I was picking on her about her and Kerwin's last names and she said I wanted Kerwin's so why was I picking on them. I said I was just upset about my brother and started crying.

1-12-09

It was a restless night and I awoke several times. I spent the afternoon with a friend who is working with her dreams so this may have been a catalist for my sudden vivid dreams.

1. Looked like the commercial for the "Notorious" movie coming out soon.

2. I was at home, but I was Konur and Mali's grandmother, not their mother. They were living with me and their mom was a non-descript person who I apparently had a good relationship with. She decided it was time for them to all move out and was taking them to a new home. I was devistated and asked who would comfort Mali when she cried? She assured me it was time for them to go and I helped her pack and I sobbed.

I felt helpless and alone.

3. We were at a pagan gathering in a forest and Dean and the girls were there among other people. We decided it was time to have the ritual, so Ron, me and some other man,  walked around looking for a good spot. We left Konur and Mali to be tended by the other people. Emily was there and pregnant and everyone was touching her belly. We went down by a river and decided to the mosquitoes were really bad so covered ourselves in muck to keep them away. Someone ran down the hill to the river and said there is a fight going on, we needed to come fast, that another pagan group was there and trying to take over our  area. Ron and the other guy ran up the hill and I followed. One of our friends was running away from the fight and I told him to get back in there. He said he had already been arrested for assault and I said I understood. By the time we got there, the fight was over and the kids were fine. Dean and the girls had rented trailers for the weekend and I went in one alone just to relax and wind down.

Last night was very restless and I woke about once an hour.

The Halloween Witch

Traditional Halloween Witch
Copyright ©6-26-99 By: Angel (Petals & Thorns - Poetry By Angel Copyright ©1993-1999)

Each year they parade her about, the traditional Halloween Witch. Misshapen green face, stringy scraps of hair, and a toothless mouth beneath her deformed nose. Gnarled knobby fingers twisted into a claw protracting from a bent and twisted torso that lurches about on wobbly legs.

Most think this abject image to be the creation of a prejudiced mind or merely a Halloween caricature. I disagree; I believe this to be how Witches were really seen.

Consider that most Witches: were women, were abducted in the night, and smuggled into dungeons or prisons under the secrecy of darkness to be presented by light of day as a confessed Witch.

Few if any saw a frightened normal looking woman being dragged into a secret room filled with instruments of torture, to be questioned until she confessed to anything suggested to her and to give names or what ever would stop the questions. Crowds saw the aberration denounced to the world as a self-proclaimed Witch.

As the Witch was paraded through town en route to be burned, hanged, drowned, stoned or disposed of in various other forms of Christian love (created to free and save her soul from her depraved body) all the jeering crowds viewed were the results of hours of torture. The face bruised and broken by countless blows bore a hue of sickly green.

The once warm and loving smile gone replaced by a grimace of broken teeth and torn gums that leers beneath a battered disfigured nose. The disheveled hair conceals bleeding gaps of torn scalp from whence cruel hands had torn away the lovely tresses. Broken twisted hands clutched the wagon for support; fractured fingers with nails torn away locked like groping claws to steady her broken body. All semblance of humanity gone.

I revere this Halloween Crone and hold her sacred above all. I honor her courage and listen to her warnings of the dark side of man. Each year I shed tears of respect...

Please remember them....
